Words to live by, indeed, but words to remember most in times of joy and sorrow.  That is why the Benedictine Health Foundation was formed and why it continues to strive to assist those members of the community who need it most -- the sick, dying, elderly and disadvantage.

Mike Larson Memorial Scholarship

A memorial endowment fund has been established through the Benedictine Health Foundation at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in memory of former Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Emergency Department Director Mike Larson, whose life was tragically cut short in a boating accident in May 2009.

Mike’s focus was always on patient satisfaction and quality. The scholarship will be awarded annually to an Avera Sacred Heart employee who exemplifies Mike’s passion for service excellence. The scholarship recipient will be able to use the funds to attend a seminar, conference or continuing education.
